What is GSSA?
The Georgia Sports Shooting Association is the official state affiliate of the National Rifle Association of America.
GSSA's 1st Principle
GSSA believes that government must not infringe on the fundamental right of individual citizens to choose to keep and bear arms for a variety of reasons; including hunting, collecting, competitive shooting, recreation, historical re-enactment and personal protection. GSSA acts in defense, support and furtherance of this belief.
GSSA maintains a full time presence at the capitol during the Georgia legislative session, lobbying for your Second Amendment
rights and pursuing enactment of pro-gun legislation.
Our success in past years include:
One of the earliest "will issue" Concealed Carry Permits in the United States. (1976)
Passage of the"State Preemption" bill in 1995 which did away with local waiting periods and other unjust restrictions on ownership.
Passage of the"Instant Background Check" which did away with the Brady Bill in Georgia.
Passage in 1996 of legislation allowing greater freedom for Concealed Carry Permit owners and allowing reciprocity with other states.
No major anti-gun bill has been passed and signed into law in our state since the Georgia Constitution was adopted.
In 1997 our Shooting Range Protection Bill was passed assuring the protection
of Georgia shooting ranges from unwarranted attacks by anti-gunners.
